Welcome to the 2016 AICM National Conference

If last year’s event was anything to go by, the 2016 AICM National Conference will be an opportunity you won’t want to miss.

The 2016 AICM (Australian Institute of Credit Management) National Conference will take place at the Gold Coast’s Sea World Resort from Wednesday 12 to Friday 14 October.

Set to feature industry experts, thought leaders and regulators ready to address current and future issues faced by credit managers, the event’s topics are designed to ensure you return to the office with all of the current and best-practice credit management tools you need to face the challenges of tomorrow head-on.

As the largest gathering of credit professionals in Australia, the conference forms a core part of how AICM strives to provide for the education, career needs and interests of all who work in the credit industry. The event, which has been taking place for over 20 years, is proud to recognise and develop the experience of AICM’s 2400 individual members working in more than 1300 companies – 34 of which are included in the ASX 100.

Last year’s event welcomed a record-breaking number of attendees and 2016 is on track to be the best professional development and networking opportunity of the year.

 What’s in store?

The conference, which is made possible by the support of Veda (premium sponsor) and Austral (supporting sponsor), will have a global and future focus, and several breakout sessions will cover core credit topics.

While the complete list of keynote speakers will be announced over the next few weeks, we’re thrilled to have both Patrick Cavanagh, Adjunct Professor of Law, University of Queensland Business School and Helen Anderson, Associate Dean Undergraduate, Melbourne Law School, The University of Melbourne, on board to lead discussions in 2016.

Just some of the key issues our speakers will tackle include:

  • Economic update
  • Changes to legislation, eg: extension of Unfair Contracts Law
  • Developments in insolvency law and its impacts
  • Evolution of the profession
  • Risk analysis
  • Collections efficiency
  • Identifying insolvency risk
  • Defending your security
  • Minimising risk of preference claims
  • Achieving high performance
  • How to reset expectations as team numbers decline

The Credit Leadership Forum

Introduced to the conference just last year, the Credit Leadership Forum is designed for experienced and aspiring leaders, managers, supervisors, team leaders and team members.

Due to the last year’s positive feedback, the Forum will be held again this year on Wednesday 12 October, from 8.45am-12.00pm. Broken into two sessions, discussions will be delivered by leadership experts whose influence has seen good managers grow to become exceptional leaders.

Combined with the credit-specific learning and updates you’ll gain from the conference, the Credit Leadership Forum will ensure you’re able to put your newfound knowledge to the most effective use.

Some key benefits of the workshop include:

  • Gain control over your team’s outcomes
  • Build team adaptability and build on your current level of success
  • How to save time, which will allow you to have a more strategic approach
  • Increase team engagement, effectiveness and results
  • Help your team to improve their abilities and connection to the rest of the business

“The Leadership Forum is a great warm-up for those attending the National Conference – it sets the right mindset with a leadership focus before knuckling down on the credit-specific sessions at the conference,” says AICM CEO Nick Pilavidis.

So, be sure to mark your diary for this October and we look forward to seeing you there.
