NSW - Credit Symposium
For many years the AICM has assisted by hosting a Symposium in February which provides a complete summary of all the recent and proposed changes to the laws relating to Credit, Debt Collection and Insolvency. As well as a practical solution to the problems that are faced by Credit Managers from a speaker that knows the subject, both as a Barrister and an Insolvency Practitioner.
Every year Credit Professionals need to stay on top of legislation changes and developments in the law. You are the "coal face" and need to know enough to recognise a problem, so that you can fix it or obtain legal advice to solve it. You face continued internal and external pressure to maintain adequate resources, managing risk while growing or maintaining market share and meeting ever more challenging targets.
Again, we have teamed up with Geoffrey, McDonald, Barrister, who has over 30 years of experience in the credit industry, to provide a thorough and practical review of the legal and legislative changes that may impact you.
There are many recent developments which will affect your role as a Credit Professional. In Geoffrey's words, 2017 contains the greatest amount of actual and proposed changes to insolvency and credit law.
This seminar will help you ensure you are fully up to date and prepare for these changes that will affect Credit Management on a daily basis.
Having "starred" at this year's National Conference, this programme will again involve the Hypothetical. We will continue the theme of the National Conference, and work through the processes open to a failing company, including the new laws on "safe harbour" and "ipso facto clauses", the proposed changes to "phoenix company laws" and the new rules influencing Administrations and Liquidations from the point of view of Credit Managers.
You can then plan to finish the afternoon by meeting your fellow professionals at the Symposium Cocktail hour to discuss the year ahead.
Geoffrey has been presenting at seminars such as this for over 20 years and, at the AICM National Conference in Canberra presented in the session titled "Insolvency to the core - The Hypothetical" in which leading insolvency, legal and credit professionals are joined by government and regulators to dissect a "hypothetical" insolvency from every angle to uncover lessons, tips and tricks for credit professionals.
In searching for a record of his past involvement with the AICM, Geoffrey found an article from the AICM magazine in circa 1998, which most importantly showed his fulsome hairstyle and original poor taste in ties.
