WA - Economic Update - WA Highlights & Global Possibilities for 2018
With the State Election having been held on 11 March 2017, one year on, we ask:
“What is different / What is the same / State Debt / WA Share of GST”
The international political landscape changes daily, if not, by the minute yet discussions still include:
“Donald Trump - has there been a real impact?”
“Brexit – What is taking so long?”
"Bitcoin – Crash or Crash Through?"
The WA Credit Community welcomes Bankwest’s Chief Economist Alan Langford, to discuss these issues and the likely to affect WA businesses in 2018.
Speaker Profile - Alan Langford
Alan joined Bankwest from what is now the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Western Australia (CCIWA) in March 1989 as an economic research officer. He was appointed economist in September 1990, just in time to grapple with the recession Paul Keating said we had to have.
The chief function of the role is to advise Bankwest and its clients on the implications of economic and financial market trends. Alan’s duties also include the editing of the Bankwest Weekly Economic and Financial Market Snapshot, ad hoc economic updates as and when key events occur and presentations at industry seminars.
He has a degree in Financial Management & Economics from Curtin University and has a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Finance & Investment from Finsia, where he is also a senior fellow. Alan is also a professional member of the WA branch of the Economic Society of Australia, a member of the housing industry forecasting group (HIFG) and a member of the advisory board of the School of Economics & Finance at Curtin University.
