SA Breakfast and Credit Symposium

 Breakfast with Senator Nick Xenophon

The AICM South Australia Division is privileged to be able to present South Australian Senator Nick Xenophon as a guest speaker at our breakfast ahead of our half day credit symposium.

Senator Xenophon was first elected in the South Australian Upper House in 1997 and was           re-elected to State Parliament in 2006.  In 2007 he decided to run federally for the Australian Senate in the 2007 Federal Election where he was elected to the Australian Senate and commenced his role as Senator in July 2008 a role in which he is still in today.

Senator Xenophon will speak about the political outlook for Australia and South Australia as well as our own upcoming State Election.

Half Day Credit Symposium – Legal Developments for Credit Professionals

The Problem

Credit Professionals need to stay on top of legislative changes and developments in the law.

You are at the "coal face" and need to be across a broad spectrum of issues (including legal issues) and at the same time you are facing the continual and ever increasing internal and external pressure to "do more" with fewer resources.

With these daily challenges, how do you ensure you are up to date with relevant developments in the law?

AICM's Solution

This Credit Symposium will help address this problem by providing a summary of developments in the law relating to credit such as insolvency, debt collection and general commercial law that affects the role and practice of credit professionals.

We have teamed up with three speakers that have expertise in the legal issues that affect the credit industry and each speaker has a slightly different perspective from their respective roles… a Barrister, a Solicitor and an Accountant.

The Barrister: Kerry Clark has been at the independent Bar since 2008 with a focus on general commercial litigation. Prior to her time as a Barrister Kerry was a lawyer at Johnston Winter Slattery and Kerry also spent a year as an Associate to Justice Bleby of the Supreme Court of South Australia.

The Solicitor: Alice Carter MICM CCE is an Associate at Lynch Meyer Lawyers and Alice practices predominantly in the firm's insolvency and debt recovery team.  Alice was also recognised as AICM's Your Credit Professional of the Year for SA in 2017.

The Accountant: Matt Ormsby is a Manager at BRI Ferrier where he has worked for a period in excess of 9 years and during that time has been involved with all types of corporate and personal insolvency administrations, including Voluntary Administrations, Receiverships, Liquidations and Bankruptcy
